Black Tea from Borthakur Family Gardens
We grow CTC and Orthodox tea on 47 hectares in Dibrugarh district. Our grandfather Rajkhowa Borthakur started this garden in 1987, and now three generations work here together.
Every morning at 5 AM our team of 83 workers picks fresh leaves. By 9 AM the leaves reach our processing unit located right on the garden. We make 12,000 kg of finished tea each month.
Why Assam Tea Tastes Different
Dibrugarh sits 5 kilometers from Brahmaputra river. During monsoon season from June to September, humidity reaches 85-90%. This climate makes Assam tea leaves bigger and darker than other regions.
Our soil has high iron content from river sediments. Tea plants here grow 30% faster than in Darjeeling. The flavor is malty and strong - perfect for morning chai with milk.
Assam’s unique terroir gives our tea a deep amber color and a brisk, full-bodied taste. The combination of rich soil, abundant rainfall, and warm temperatures creates leaves with a signature boldness you won’t find anywhere else.

Our Processing Method
After picking, leaves go through withering for 14-16 hours. Then we roll them in machines made by Kolkata Tea Machinery company. Fermentation takes 90 minutes in our climate-controlled room. Finally we dry the tea at 110°C for 20 minutes.
We keep 5% of production as Orthodox grade - these leaves stay whole and sell for higher prices in Guwahati auction. The rest goes through CTC cutting for strong breakfast blends.
Who Buys AssamSip Tea
Tea Shops in North India
45 retail shops in Delhi, Kolkata and Guwahati buy our CTC grade. They blend it with other teas and sell under their brand names. Average order is 200 kg per month.
Hotels and Restaurants
12 hotels in Assam and Meghalaya serve our tea to guests. Radisson Blu Guwahati uses our Orthodox grade for breakfast service. We deliver fresh batches every 15 days.
Export to Middle East
Since 2019 we export to Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Two importers there sell our tea to Indian grocery stores. We send 400 kg shipments through Kolkata port every two months.
Direct Orders from India
Individual customers order 2-5 kg packs for home use. We pack in silver foil bags with our label. Minimum order is 2 kg. Shipping by India Post takes 5-7 days to most cities.

We pack tea in food-grade aluminum bags with zip locks. Each bag has a printed sticker showing batch number, packing date, and best before date (18 months from packing).

Other Assam districts: We use private courier (TCI Express). Takes 2-3 days. Shipping cost ₹80 per kg up to 5 kg, then ₹60 per kg.

Speed Post: 5-7 days to metros, 7-10 days to smaller cities. ₹95 per kg. We hand over packages to Dibrugarh Post Office daily at 11 AM.

How Pranav Drinks His Tea
For CTC grade: Boil water. Add 1 teaspoon per cup plus one extra for the pot. Pour boiling water. Wait 4-5 minutes. Add warm milk and sugar. This method brings out the malty flavor our customers buy our tea for.
For Orthodox grade: Heat water to 85-90°C (not fully boiling). Use 1 teaspoon per cup. Steep 3-4 minutes maximum. Drink without milk to taste the subtle notes. Second steeping works too - just add 1 more minute.
