What Laws We Follow for Data Protection

AssamSip operates as a small family business in Dibrugarh, Assam, India. We follow the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Personal Data Protection Bill guidelines applicable to Indian businesses. We are registered under GST number 18XXXXXX (details available upon request from contact@assamsip.com).

Our business is owned by Dhrubajyoti Borthakur and managed with son Pranav Borthakur. Physical address: Rajkhowa Gardens, 207 Amolapatty, Dibrugarh, Assam 786008, India. We have been growing and selling tea since 1987.

We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising purposes outside of our direct business relationship with you. Your information stays within our family business unless legally required to share with authorities.

What Information We Collect and Why

When you place an order: We collect your full name, phone number, email address, and delivery address. We need this to pack and ship your tea order. We also store your order history to remember your preferences for future orders.

When you call or email: We keep records of your questions and our responses in Pranav's email inbox and WhatsApp messages. This helps us provide consistent service if you contact us again. We delete email conversations older than 2 years.

Payment information: We receive bank transfer details showing your name and bank name. We do not store your full bank account number or any card details. Payment records kept for 7 years as required by Indian tax law.

Website usage: Our website does not use cookies or tracking tools. We do not collect browsing data or use analytics software. We see your IP address in server logs but do not use this information for any purpose.

Where Your Data Is Stored and Who Sees It

Customer information is stored in three places: Pranav's laptop (password protected), Gmail email account (contact@assamsip.com), and a physical ledger book at our Dibrugarh office. Only Pranav and his father Dhrubajyoti have access to this information.

When we ship your order, we share your name, phone number, and address with courier services (Speed Post, DTDC, or TCI Express). They use this only for delivery. We do not share your email or order details with them.

If required by Indian government authorities for tax audit or legal investigation, we will provide customer information. This has not happened in our 38 years of business so far. We will inform you by email if we are legally required to share your data.

We do not use cloud storage services. Your data stays in India. We do not transfer information to any country outside India except when shipping to international addresses (limited to shipment details only).

Your Rights to View, Change, or Delete Your Data

See what we have: Email Pranav at contact@assamsip.com asking for your information. He will reply within 5 business days with details of all data we store about you. Free of charge.

Update incorrect details: Call +91 99897 98344 or email to correct your phone number, address, or name spelling. We update our records same day. Important for accurate delivery of future orders.

Delete your account: Request deletion by email. We will remove your contact details within 15 days. However, we must keep order history and payment records for 7 years as per Indian tax regulations. These records stored separately and not used for marketing.

Stop marketing messages: We only send emails about your orders or occasionally about new tea availability (maximum 3 times yearly). Reply to any email with "unsubscribe" and we stop sending promotional messages. Order confirmations still sent for purchases.

If you believe we are misusing your information or have concerns about data protection, email complaints to contact@assamsip.com. Dhrubajyoti Borthakur (owner) will personally respond within 7 days. You also have the right to complain to Indian authorities if unsatisfied with our response.

Updates to This Privacy Policy

We review this policy yearly in January. If we change how we handle data, we will update this page and note the new date at the top. For significant changes, we will email all customers who ordered in the previous 12 months.
